Inventory Basics Quick Reference Guide

Guiding Principles 

1. Store like items per row. Front to back, all items the same. Stacking is ok! 2. Push items to the back of the shelf. Products should all touch the rear edge. 3. Keep labels forward facing. Try not to cut through the identifying labels.

One SKU per row, pushed to back. Pull from the front.

Shelf label required, placed below-center.

Visible spout = open box.

Box/Case

Store cases facing outward. Can be stored on shelves or stacked elsewhere.

Label must face forward.

Do not block front with individual items.

Shelved/ Individual

One item per row. Items upright, tidy, pushed to back.

Labels facing forward.

Use Product Labels with visually similar items.

Cups & Lids

Full cases upright; open cases on side with sleeves visible.

Shelf label required, place in the bottom-left corner.

All items pushed to back.

Prepped Pans

Like items per row; stacking allowed.

Use-by label visible and accurate.

Narrow side = front
